Photograph of Mrs. Warren Gould Roby of Wayland, Massachusetts; taken in her Parlor in the Marlborough House in Boston, Massachusetts

Photograph of Mrs. Warren Gould Roby of Wayland, Massachusetts; taken in her parlor at the Marlborough House in Boston, Massachusetts, presumably where she lived after the death of her husband.

Read more about the Roby home, which Warren Gould Roby and wife Cynthia used mostly as a summer home - a photograph and several pages of information.

From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions requested:

Presumably Cynthia Coggeshall [or Coggswell] (Wood) Roby (1833-1905), daughter of James Wood and Amy (Coggswell) Wood and wife Warren Gould Roby (1834-1897), a merchant, farmer and wood carver. [Note: Warren's FindaGrave memorial gives a birth year of 1894 - correction sent].

Cynthia, a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Warren, a native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, married on 27 November 1856 at New Bedford.  They lived in East Cambridge, Massachusetts, and at the farm in Wayland.

See a mermaid weathervane carved by Warren Gould Roby and exhibited at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont.
