1874 Two CDVs by a Milford, Massachusetts Studio: Miss Martha M. Ring of Milford; Miss Annie Slade of Bristol, Rhode Island

Two CDVs taken in 1874 by the Willis studio of 100 Main Street, Milford, Massachusetts. The two young women appear related, but may have just been friends.

Above and just below, the CDV of Miss Martha M. Ring of Milford, Massachusetts; taken in June 1874.  I believe she was the Martha M. Ring born about 1852, daughter of Winthrop H. Ring and Lydia R. (Johnson) Ring, who would marry Civil War veteran George R. Bakemen. This Martha died in 1920.

Above and below, the CDV of Miss Annie Slade of Bristol, Rhode Island; taken on June 24, 1874.  Annie may have been the daughter of John R. Slade and his first wife Harriet (Paine) Slade.

These women were both teachers, I believe. Martha attended Bridgewater Normal School, and Annie may have attended Rhode Island Normal School.

If you have information on either of these women, especially if you can tie them together, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
