Four Vintage Photographs of a Bath, Maine, Area Family, Possibly Related to Sarah Isabell Lewis

Four vintage photographs that I was told depict members of a Bath, Maine, area family. The photograph above was taken at the Higgins studio of Bath, Maine; no written on reverse.

The "family" might have been related to the family of Sarah Isabell Lewis (1910-2009) of Bath, Maine.

Only one photograph has an identification, and even that is a partial identification. It appears to be a school photograph, and is inscribed "Lovingly Isabell", with the notation on the reverse of "G.N.S. 1929".

In the Class of 1929 at Gorham Normal School was Sarah Isabell Lewis, "Issy", of Bath, Maine. She was born July 4, 1910 at Bath, the daughter of Maurice Howard Lewis and Bertha May (Dinsmore) Lewis. Isabell's Find a Grave listing contains an informative obituary, which notes that she graduated from Gorham Normal School in 1929. Isabell, who taught school for about 30 years, married George Dunning Field in 1940.

Isabell's mother Bertha May Dinsmore, was born about 1892 and died in 1914. In 1918 Isabell's father Maurice Howard Lewis married Catherine Costello, daughter of Daniel and Sabina Costello of Bath.

The photograph below was taken by the Hammond studio of Lewiston, Maine. Perhaps the young woman in the photograph was a graduate of Bates College at Lewiston. Could she have been one of Isabell's grandmothers, either Sarah Elizabeth (Wilson) Lewis or Sadie (McQuarrie Dinsmore?

The Carte de Visite below was taken at the A. W. Kimball studio of Main Street, Richmond, Maine. Could the young man in the photograph be one of Isabell's grandfathers, either maternal grandfather Charles F. Dinsmore or paternal grandfather Lendell E. Lewis?
