1864/1865 Payments on Behalf of Family in Robbinston, Maine, of Civil War Soldier/Sailor John R. Hickey; in 1860s/1870s Ledger of Financial Transactions of Robbinston, Maine


John R. Hickey - payments made in 1864 and 1865 to his wife and children in Robbinston, MaineHickey, age 39, was serving in the U.S. Navy after transferring from the 18th Regiment.

Found on numbered page 3 in a ledger of Robbinston, Maine, financial transactions from the mid 1860s to the 1870s.

Payments made on behalf of:
  • Bridget Hickey, age 30; wife
  • James Hickey, age 11; son
  • Honora ? Hickey, age 9; daughter 
  • Sarah E. Hickey, age 7; daughter
  • John Eugene Hickey, age 5; son 
  • William Edgar Hickey, age 4; son 

Another child, Mary Hickey, was born in 1866.

John R. Hickey was born about 1826 in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, across the bay from Dennysville, Maine; he died in 1870.  Bridget remained in Dennysville at least until 1910, when she was living in the household of granddaughter Alice (Hickey) Bohanan, wife of Clarence W. Bohanan [or variant spelling].

John and at least one child, son William Edgar Hickey, are buried in the Robbinston Ridge Cemetery at Robbinston, Maine.
