June 1918 Issue of "The Spud", Publication of Sherman High School at Sherman, Maine

June 1918 Issue of The Spud, a publication by the students of Sherman High School at Sherman, Maine.

Below, the new Sherman High School building; two articles inside.

This issue is dedicated to Irving Russell Harriman (1892-1919), a former principal of Sherman High School.  Harriman died of tuberculosis at a sanitarium in Hebron, Maine, on December 14, 1919.

Another page is dedicated to the memory of "Ivah Whitehouse, Class of '21, Who died February 25, 1918".  She was presumably Iva Whitehouse (1902-1918), daughter of Edmund Franklin Whitehouse and Evelyn (Stubbs) Whitehouse.

This issue of The Spud measures nearly 10" by 7" and contains 40 numbered pages and fourteen pages of advertising.  One sheet, comprising pages 31 and 32, is missing.  It's possible this is a numbering error; the context gives no clue either way.

Alphabetical lists of people mentioned in the issue and of the advertisers appear later in this post.
