1892 Photograph of Young Man IDed as Granville Cochrane; by a Studio in Lewiston, Maine

Photograph, dated July 1892, of a young man identified on the reverse as Granville Cochrane of Lewiston, Maine.

The photograph was taken by the Colpitts & Co. studio of Small's Block, Lewiston, Maine.

Granville was presumably the Granville Cochrane shown in the 1893 City Directory of Lewiston, Maine, as a messenger.  There was also a Granville Cochran who was discharged from Company D in 1893 for non-attendance at drills, as noted in the 1893-94 Annual Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Maine.

If he was Granville Waldo Cochrane, son of John Edward Cochrane and Florilla Margaret (Heath) Cochrane of Monmouth, Maine, the reason for non-attendance at drills in 1893 might have stemmed from illness, as this Granville died in 1893.

If you have a theory as to the identity of Granville Cochrane, please leave a comment for the benefit of other researchers.
