1867-1871 Invoices to George G. Gates, Store Owner in Milan, New Hampshire, from Portland, Maine Vendores

1867 to 1871 invoices and receipts: George Goodenough Gates (1831-1926), store owner in Milan, New Hampshire in his dealings with vendors and advertisers in Portland, Maine, and Gorham, Maine.

The store reportedly operated from 1867 to about 1872, not long after the last of these documents.

George Goodenough Gates married twice 1) Daty Lord Cole (1836-1861) in 1854 and 2) Dorcas Porter Evans (1838-1905) in 1862. At some point before the enumeration of the 1880 Federal Census, George and family moved to Dixfield, Maine, where Dorcas died in 1905 and George in 1926.
