Howards Gore Plantation, Maine, in the 1820 Census; now part of Hanover, Maine.

The enumerator, Joseph H. Wardwell, did not use an apostrophe, whereas other records show Howard's Gore.

Changes: Hanover was incorporated in 1843 from Howard's Gore Plantation and part of Bethel; a part of Hanover was set off to Bethel in 1849.
