Batchelder's Grant, Oxford County, Maine, in the 1820 Census

Batchelder's Grant, Oxford County, Maine, in the 1820 Census.

Note: the Enumerator wrote Batchelder's Grant in the margin of the next Sheet, 212, but the wording is smeared and may have been meant to be erased.  The title of the enumeration is Fryeburg Academy Grant - you may want to check that enumeration for the person you're researching.

[Click here to to return to the main page for the 1820 Census in Maine, which has links to the 9 Maine Counties then in existence and, from there, to the individual Towns of the County chosen.]

Changes since 1820:
  • land set off to form Stoneham in 1834
  • land set off to Mason in 1843 (now Mason Township)

Note: the 1820 Census lists the names of heads of households only; see the original sheets for a tally of everyone in each household by age range and gender.

Enumerated population of Batchelder's Grant in the 1820 Census: 97 [or 91] inhabitants.

Enumerator: Thomas Webster

The enumeration of Batchelder's Grant appears on Sheet 211
