World War I photo of Dick Epperson, in uniform


I think this is a World War I uniform; if I'm wrong, I hope someone will correct me.  Identification on reverse is "Dick Epperson".

Searching online, I found two possibilities right off; there may be more.  One was a Virginian born abt 1897, and the other an Idahoan born abt 1900.

Please contact me if you have an insight into this fellow's exact identification.
