c1900 photograph of a group of young adults taken by Tuttle & Son Studio of Belfast, Maine. Sadly, no identification on the reverse.
This photograph may depict a graduating class in the Belfast, Maine, area, a class dominated by women, with but one young man. Perhaps the year determined by researching classes in the late 1800s/early 1900s to see if there were any with just one lone male.
However, the dog in the lower right corner has me thrown for a loop! Did teachers bring their dogs to school?
Maybe instead this is a group photo of a couple's children, or grandchildren, with the family dog a necessary part of any portrait.
If you have any ideas on this, please leave a comment.
