1888 Graduation Photograph of Bowen Bancroft Smith; Newton High School in Newton, Massachusetts.

From online research, hopefully correct: [corrections welcome!]

Bowen Bancroft Smith was born 19 June 1869 at Newton Corner, Massachusetts, the son of Frederick Bancroft Smith and Miriam Stedman (Jackson) Smith, born at Groton, Massachusetts, and Newton Corner, Massachusetts, respectively.

See another post that features a 1895 photograph of Bowen's mother Miriam Stedman (Jackson) Smith.

After graduation from Newton High School, Bowen went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study architecture.  He graduated in 1890 and then went to Paris to study at Atelier Paul Blondel.

He was a charter member of the Society of Beaux-Arts Architects, as well as a member of the American Institute of Architects.  He practiced architecture from 1895 until his retirement in 1925.

For an example of Bowen Bancroft Smith's work, see an article in the Architectural Record, Volume, 40, July 1916, on the sumptuous home of Schuyler Schieffelin, Esq., at Monroe, New York.

On 2 April 1903, he married Ella Hunt Van Derveer, daughter of David Augustus Van Derveer and Georgianna (Hunt) Van Derveer. Ella was born 21 February 1875 at Manalapan, New Jersey.

The couple lived at New York and had a son Hunt B. B. Smith, born 19 June 1904 at New York City.  Bowen Bancroft Smith died 27 October 1932.
