Cabinet Photo of Amanda Melvina (Atwell) Lewis, husband of Leander Clark Lewis, Connecticut
Today I happened upon the photograph of Amanda Lewis, wife of Leander Clark Lewis, of Haddam and Chester, Connecticut. Fortunately, the ID on reverse was given twice, with the words "Mrs. Leander" on the 2nd ID being a huge clue.
Online research shows that Amanda was Amanda Melvina Atwell, born in 1837 in Connecticut, the daughter of Daniel & Betsey (McIntosh) Atwell. I couldn't find anything beyond either of her parents.
Amanda's husband, Leander Clark Lewis, was a different story. He was born in 1827 in Connecticut, the son of Milton Leander & Anne Bushnell (Clark) Lewis. His genealogy has been thoroughly researched.
I hope you will find this photograph meaningful - thanks for stopping by!
