February 25, 1858 Canton, Maine, document where Selectmen Sylvanus R. Treat and Hiram A. Ellis direct Town Treasurer John M. DeShon to pay Daniel Ludden $13 for work on the Highways in the Summer of 1857. The reverse shows the Treasurer as Otis Hayford, Jr.; he apparently became Town Treasurer at some point between the order of February 25, 1858 and the payment of March 19, 1858.
