Real photo postcard photograph of 3 young men identified on the address side as Nate, Fred Ganner and Cliss Shirley. Nate's surname may or may not have been Ganner.They may have been from Maine, as there was a Frederick W. Ganner (1886-1966), who lived in Lincoln, Maine.
[Note: for those interested, I was sent a short memoir written by Fred W. Ganner in 1955 about his life growing up in his father's barber shop in Lincoln, Maine. I don't know where this first appeared, or even if it was ever in print, so I'll only share offline, if requested.]

According to Maine Marriage License records, Frederick W. Ganner, barber, married Catherine Townsend, a teacher, on 9 Jul 1912 in Lincoln, Maine. No Nate Ganner in Fred's family tree that I can see. There is a Frederick C. Shirley born in Lincoln in 1866... so there are definitely Shirleys living in the area at the time.
