Photograph of L. Celeste Haskell of Green's Landing, Stonington, Maine
Photograph of a woman identified on reverse as "L. Celeste Haskell of G. Landing, Me." The photograph was taken by the W. C. Tuttle studio of Green's Landing, Maine.
Green's Landing was the village that incorporated under the name of Stonington, Maine, in 1897.
From online research only, hopefully correct: [corrections welcome]
L. Celeste Haskell was born Leonora Celeste Stinson in September 1845 at Rockport, Maine, daughter of Seth Webb Stinson and Louisa Josephine (Crockett) Stinson, both born at Deer Isle, Maine.
Her paternal grandparents were Jesse and Abigail (Small) Stinson. Her maternal grandparents were John and Rebecca (Carter) Crockett.
On 23 November 1868 at Deer Isle, Maine, Leonora married Henry Noyes Haskell, son of Hezekiah Rowell Haskell and Lucy Maria (Noyes) Haskell. Henry was born 22 November 1847 at Deer Isle.
The couple had at least one child, a son Harry Griffith Haskell, born 18 April 1873 at Dedham, Massachusetts. The 1880 Census found the family back at Deer Isle, where Henry's occupation was listed as house joiner.
The 1900 Census found the three of them at Portland, Maine, where Henry was working as a bookkeeper. Henry died at Portland on 3 March 1909. His occupation on his death certificate is listed as carpenter.
Leonora Celeste (Stinson) Haskell died at Deer Isle in 1913 on 30 January 1913. She and Henry are buried in the Portland, Maine area.
Their son Harry Griffith Haskell married Addie Mae Robinson on 3 July 1900 at Portland, Maine. She was born about December 1879, daughter of John G. and Lillian D. (Sawyer) Robinson, born at Newburyport, Massachusetts, and Milbridge, Maine, respectively.
Harry and Addie Mae raised a family in Massachusetts. The 1910 Census found them at Marblehead, Massachusetts; Harry's occupation was listed as printer. The 1920 Census found them at Boston, Massachusetts, where Harry was working as an invoice clerk at a railway. A 1930 city directory shows them living at Stoughton, Massachusetts, where Harry was listed as a printer.
