1926 letter from Kitty Ritchell to her sister Rose (Cribbin) Poland at Athens, Maine

Loving 1926 letter from Catherine Ritchell, "Kitty", of New York to her sister Rose Poland of Athens, Maine.   Kitty and Rose were the daughters of Irish natives Dennis and Kate Cribbin of New York and Athens, Maine.

"Kitty" married Fred Ritchell.  Rose married Alton Poland, son of Phineas Stevens Poland and his wife Lillian L. (Brown) Poland.

Kitty mentions that she's heard that Rose's husband and father in law have started a shingle mill.

Dearest Rosie,
I received your kind letter and was very glad to hear you are all well up there.  I guess you felt that real winter had come when you saw the snow.  It has been very cold here for the past week but we haven't had any snow yet.  I heard from home that Alton and Phin have started the shingle business and I hope they will make a good success with it.  Fred's job is still holding out here but I think it will only last a couple of weeks more, then we don't know if he'll be sent some place else or if we'll take a place in N.Y.  I'm enclosing a check for $20.  I hope you are getting along all right.  Hoping to hear from you soon, I will close with much love from Fred and myself to you both.
Kitty

Thanks for stopping by!
