1880s Autograph Album with Signers from Biddeford, Maine, and Kennebunk, Maine

1880s autograph album with signers from Biddeford, Maine, and Kennebunk, Maine.

The first signed page in the album is that of Bertha M. Burnham of Biddeford, Maine, but I don't know if she was the album owner or not.  Whoever it was loved Victorian scraps, particularly those of butterflies.  Bertha signed her page at Biddeford, Maine, on December 24, 1884.

Bertha's brother, Owen W. Burnham, also signed a page in the album at Biddeford, Maine, on December 30, 1884.

Bertha and Owen were the children of Andrew Haskell Burnham and Angeline B. (Hutchins) Burnham.  I believe the Andrew H. Burnham who signed a page at Biddeford, Maine, on December 30, 1884, was the father of Bertha and Owen, Andrew Haskell Burnham.

The album is approximately 7" x 4" and contains over 30 pages of sentiments, including a page with the sentiments of multiple people.  An alphabetical list of the signers appears at the end of this post.

The page signed by multiple people appears to have been a musicial or religious event, I'm assuming at Biddeford or Kennebunk.  Signers include: 1) Etta M. Hopping of Paw Paw, Michigan; 2) Professor W. J. Harrington of Chicago, Illinois; 3) G. R. Sturgis of Detroit, Michigan; 4 & 5) Professor and Mrs. George of Chicago; 6) Miss Ella Maloney of Watkins, New York.

Another signer was the album owner's parson, Rev. T. P. Adams.

Among the people from the Redlon family who signed were Benjamin Emery Redlon and his wife Jerusha Atwood (Clevely) Bedlon of Kennebunk.
