1905 Graduation Photograph of Clara Withington of Buckfield, Maine; perhaps Hebron Academy in Hebron, Maine
Photograph of a young woman identified on the reverse as Clara Withington of Buckfield, Maine. The photograph, which appears to have been taken in connection with Clara's 1905 graduation from H. A. - perhaps Hebron Academy - was taken by the Harry L. Plummer studio of Lewiston, Maine.
From online research, hopefully correct: [corrections and additions welcome!]
Clara B. Withington was born 15 August 1885 at Buckfield, Maine, the daughter of Charles C. and Harriet Belle (Quincy) Withington, who were born at Buckfield, Maine, and Bridgton, Maine, respectively.
The 1910 Census of Buckfield shows Clara living with her parents and working making brushes in a factory.
On 8 June 1914, Clara married Raymond Austin Hersey, son of George Henry Hersey and Laura Emma (Lynch) Hersey, who were born at Sumner, Maine, and Poughkeepsie, New York, respectively. Raymond was born 3 October 1884 at Brooklyn, New York.
Clara and Raymond settled at Somerville, Massachusetts, where they raised at least two children, both sons. Raymond worked as a steam fitter.
Clara died in 1935 and Raymond in 1943.
