1793 document showing payment made to York County, Maine, grand jurors Dummer Mitchell and William Smith for their service in 1792.
The money was transferred to William Jeffords by County Treasurer William Frost, for distribution to the two men.
- Dummer Mitchel/Mitchell - several possibilities
- William Smith - several possibilities
- William Jefferds - perhaps William Jefferds (1753-1820) - mentioned many times in the Lord Family Collection, held at Mystic Seaport Museum
- William Frost, County Treasurer - Lt. William Frost (1747-1827)
If you have information on any of these men, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
Presumably the town of York, Maine, was where County business and courts were located in 1792 and 1793. Alfred, Maine, would not become shiretown until 1806.
