1890s autograph album that belonged to Huldah Hortense Whittemore (1878-1966), "Hortense", then, presumably, of Fayette, Maine. Hortense would marry James Laurence Newton. Several of the autographs indicate that the inscriber was a student at the Maine Wesleyan Seminary in Kents Hill, Readfield, Maine, as was, presumably, Huldah Hortense Whittemore herself.
The album measures approximately 5-1/2" by 3-1/4" and contains the sentiments of 35 of Hortense's relatives and friends. An alphabetical list of the inscribers, together with any personal information they offered, appears at the end of this post.

Huldah Hortense Whittemore was born 11 March 1878 at West Paris, Maine, the daughter of Enoch Whittemore and Nancy Jackson Cushman Whittemore. On 25 March 1907 at Rumford Falls, Maine, Hortense married James Laurence Newton.
Four of Hortense's siblings inscribed pages in the album, as well as at least one cousin, Ernest T. Cushman of West Paris, Maine. The siblings who inscribed pages:
- Blanche Inez Whittemore, "Your Old Maidish Sister" - despite her self-description, Blanche Inez Whittemore (1876-1968) would marry Arthur True Royal in 1914.
