Alvin Percy Sylvester was the son of Sea Captain Ellis Percy Sylvester, the subject of an earlier post, and Margaret Ann (Getchell) Sylvester, both Phippsburg natives. Alvin was born 13 September 1864 at Phippsburg, Maine.
On 8 June 1904 at Haverhill, Massachusetts, he married Mary L. Meserve, daughter of John Orrington Meserve and Deborah Collamore (Bradley) Meserve, born in Bowdoin, Maine, and Topsham, Maine respectively.
Her paternal grandparents were Joshua and Elizabeth S. (Graves) Meserve. Her maternal grandparents were Foster and Mary (Mallett) Bradley.
The couple farmed at Phippsburg, Maine, and had at least one child, a daughter.
