Cabinet Photographs of Willard Nelson Sawyer and Wife May E. (Sawtelle) Sawyer of New Hampshire and Winchendon, Massachusetts

Cabinet photographs of New Hampshire natives Willard Nelson Sawyer and wife Mary Eleanor (Sawtelle) Sawyer, "May", of Winchendon, Massachusetts.

The photographs were taken at the Allen studio in Winchendon, Massachusetts

From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions welcome!

Willard Nelson Sawyer was born in 1864 in Alstead, New Hampshire, son of David Webster Sawyer and Marinda [or Miranda] Abigail (Kidder) Sawyer. On 4 June 1887 in East Jaffrey, New Hampshire, Willard, then working as a machinist, married Mary E. Sawtelle, "May". May was born in Greenville, New Hampshire, the daughter of Lyman K. Sawtelle and Mary (Whitehead) Sawtelle.

Not long after their marriage, the couple and their first of two daughters moved to Winchendon, Massachusetts, where Willard continued his work as a machinist. May died in 1942; Willard had predeceased her, but I haven't found a record of his death.

1874 Two CDVs by a Milford, Massachusetts Studio: Miss Martha M. Ring of Milford; Miss Annie Slade of Bristol, Rhode Island

Two CDVs taken in 1874 by the Willis studio of 100 Main Street, Milford, Massachusetts. The two young women appear related, but may have just been friends.

Above and just below, the CDV of Miss Martha M. Ring of Milford, Massachusetts; taken in June 1874.  I believe she was the Martha M. Ring born about 1852, daughter of Winthrop H. Ring and Lydia R. (Johnson) Ring, who would marry Civil War veteran George R. Bakemen. This Martha died in 1920.

Above and below, the CDV of Miss Annie Slade of Bristol, Rhode Island; taken on June 24, 1874.  Annie may have been the daughter of John R. Slade and his first wife Harriet (Paine) Slade.

These women were both teachers, I believe. Martha attended Bridgewater Normal School, and Annie may have attended Rhode Island Normal School.

If you have information on either of these women, especially if you can tie them together, please leave a comment or contact me directly.

Cabinet photograph of Young Ralph Wayne Forristall (1888-1960), Son of Frank M. Forristall & Julia May (Clapp) Forristall of Alstead, New Hampshire

Cabinet photograph of Ralph Wayne Forristall (1888-1964) of Alstead, New Hampshire, in the summer of 1891, shortly before he turned three years of age on October 14. The photograph was taken at the Swift studio in nearby Bellows Falls, Vermont.

Ralph was the son of Frank M. Forristall and his first wife Julia May (Clapp). Frank subsequently married Mary Stella Cater; their wedding photograph is featured in another post.

Yet another post features students in the District 6 school, including Ralph's two full siblings, Florence M. Forristall and Leslie P. Forristall.

On April 15, 1916 at Rockingham, Vermont, Ralph Wayne Forristall married Emma Elizabeth Coleman, daughter of Chester F. Coleman and Laura A. (Jones) Coleman. Ralph moved to the Vermont farm of his wife's family after his marriage. He died in 1964 at Bellows Falls, Vermont.

Four c. 1905 Gem Size Photographs of Residents of Plymouth, Massachusetts: Hager, Denehy, Otley

Sarah Anne (Stott) Hager (1873-1960) of Plymouth, Massachusetts; born in Mystic, Connecticut, daughter of John Stott [also seen as James and Joseph in other records] and Isabelle (Medowell) Stott, who came to the U.S. from England and Ireland respectively. Sarah married Gustave Adolph Hager (1865-1946).

Ernest Adolph Hager (1896-1961), son of Gustav Adolph Hager and Sarah Anne (Stott) Hager. Ernest married Esther Louise Krueger in 1925.
