Paper scrap with handwritten epitaph for "Little Carrie", who died on April 16, 1866 of "the whooping cough & other diseases".  Nothing written on the reverse. 

Much of my collection is from New England and the Maritimes, but this could have come from anywhere.

Can you imagine the tears that were shed as this was written?

Carrie may have been called "little"due to her very young age, or she might have been a bit older and was called "Little Carrie" to distinguish her from a mother of the same name.
