1880s/1890s autograph album that belonged to Theodore Joseph Warner of Orange, Connecticut, from before and after his 1886 marriage to Julia Ann Wilkinson.
The album was acquired with a companion, the autograph album of Theodore's wife Julia Ann Wilkinson. Several people inscribed pages in both albums.
Theodore didn't write his name in the album, unless that page is missing. However, he did inscribe a page in Julia's album, in 1885, before their marriage, so we have an example of his handwriting.
Theodore's album measures approximately 7" by 4-1/4" and contains the sentiments of 19 of his relatives, friends and former teacher, George Henry Hubbard and wife Nellie. An alphabetical list of the inscribers, together with any personal information they offered, appears at the end of this post.
Surnames in the Album
From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions requested:
Theodore Joseph Warner was born May 14, 1862 at Hamden, Connecticut, the son of Charles Jared Warner and May Ann (Oviatt) Warner. Charles inscribed a page in Theodore's album (as he did in Julia's album).
Theodore's sister Grace Louise Warner also inscribed a page. (Grace and three of Theodore's other sisters inscribed pages in Julia's album.)
On January 20, 1886 at West Haven, Connecticut, Theodore Joseph Warner married Julia Ann Wilkinson, who was, I think, the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Wilkinson, who came to Connecticut with son George about 1864, shortly before Julia was born.
Julia inscribed a page in Theodore's album in 1885, before their marriage.
Theodore and Julia had at least two children, sons George Clayton Warner, who died young, and Arthur Clifford Warner. Theodore died in 1940 and Julia in 1952. They're buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery at West Haven, Connecticut.
