c1895 Photograph of 10 Women with 3 IDed: Cora Bradden Dutch; Jennie Leonard Lutterell & Martha Jones Prescott, all of Milo, Maine

Photograph of ten women with three of them identified with their maiden and married surnames: Cora (Bradeen) Dutch; Jennie (Leonard) Lutterell; and Martha (Jones) Prescott, all of whom were from Milo, Maine.  Martha was in the Class of 1896 and Cora and Jennie in the Class of 1898 at Milo High School.

The three women were presumably not yet married when the photograph was taken; the identifications apparently came much later.

The photograph itself measures approximately 3-/2" by 2-1/4".   The entire piece is approximately 4-1/4" by 3-1/4".

From brief online research, hopefully correct:  [corrections and additions requested]

Cora Elizabeth Bradeen was born October 6, 1879 at Ornevile, Maine, the daughter of Jason Crosby Bradeen and Emma Mae (Ramsdell) Bradeen.  On June 3, 1919, Cora married lumberman William F. Dutch of Milo, Maine.

Jennie M. Leonard was born August 31, 1881 at Milo, Maine, the daughter of Wilbert Wallace Leonard and Hannah Angela (Farris) Leonard.  On December 17, 1903 at Milo, Maine, Jennie married Alexander Thomas Lutterell.  Alexander was a sawyer in a spool mill.

Martha E. Jones was born October 23, 1877 at Bucksport, Maine, the daughter of railway contractors George A. Jones and Rachel (Lawrence) Jones.   Interestingly, two other photographs were found in the collection containing the photograph above.  One shows a man identified on the reverse as George Jones, who may have been Martha's father George A. Jones, who was born at Pugwash, Nova Scotia, on March 16, 1853.

Another photograph shows Mildred Billings who wrote on the reverse that her photograph was intended for Miss Jones, perhaps for Martha or for her sister Jane.

On March 8, 1904 at Milo, Maine, Martha married sawyer Edward P. Prescott. See other posts that feature:
  • photograph of Martha (Jones) Prescott's four month old daughter Rachel Alice Prescott
  • a photograph of a young child with Martha (Jones) Prescott's name and address on the reverse, possibly another photograph of Rachel or of her older brother Edward or younger sister Jane.
If you have corrections to the information above or identifications of any of the other women in the photograph, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
