Scrap of Paper with Information on Dr. Hosea Ballou Eaton, wife Martha White (Glover) Eaton and Children; Rockport, Maine


Scrap of paper with genealogical information on Dr. Hosea Ballou Eaton and Martha White (Glover) Eaton and their four children, all born at Rockport, Maine.  The paper was tucked in the Bible of Dr. Albert Franklin Piper and wife Martha V. (Eaton) Piper of Rockport, Maine.

Dr. Hosea Ballou Eaton, an 1845 graduate of the medical school at Bowdoin College, was born March 22, 1822 at Plymouth, Maine, the son of Parker Eaton and Mary Seymor, according to a record in Maine Births and Christenings, 1739-1900.  Dr. Eaton died, as the above paper shows, on Monday, April 19, 1887 at the age of 65 years and 3 months.

According to her Maine Birth Record, Martha White (Glover) Eaton was born November 5, 1821 at Vinalhaven, Maine, daughter of Capt. John Glover and Martha (White) Glover.  As the above paper shows, Martha White (Glover) Eaton died on December 5, 1903, at the age of 82 years, 1 month.  They're buried in the

  • Thomas Glover Eaton, born February 17, 1858 at Rockport, Maine; the paper above shows that he died in San Diego, California, Tuesday, December 12, 1893.  Became a lawyer.
  • Hosea Ballou Eaton, born September 17, 1855 at Rockport, Maine; became a doctor and practiced with his father
  • Martha Verrenna Eaton, born January 8, 1853 at Rockport, Maine; married Dr. Albert Franklin Piper of Thomaston, Maine
  • John Parker Eaton, born [left blank]. His Maine birth record shows that he was born on November 21, 1849 at Rockport, Maine.  He died in 1852, although I haven't found a record to that effect.
