She was mostly likely Frances Gertrude Perry, born June 7, 1892 at Phippsburg, Maine, the daughter of Lester Alton Perry and Albina Augusta (Preble) Perry.  In 1916, Frances graduated from the Special Education Course at the Posse Normal School of Gymnastics at Boston, Massachusetts.

By 1920, Frances was working as a reconstruction aide and living with her parents at Randolph, Maine.  She may have been the Frances G. Perry who was living in New York City at the time of the 1940 Census and working as a campaign organizer.

Isabel Merrill Moore was born March 24, 1900 at Randolph, Maine, the daughter of Warren E. Moore and Ritta (Merrill) Moore.  Isabel, judging from a newspaper article, may have attended Radcliffe College at Cambridge, Massachusetts.  She became a nurse and was working as a school nurse at Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, when she married farmer Ray Warren Combs on June 27, 1925 at Hampton Falls.

Ray was born July 20, 1894 at Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, the son of Charles Frank Combs and Mary Susan (Pevear) Combs.  Ray graduated from Hampton Academy in 1910 and the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts in 1914.

Isabel and Ray lived at Seabrook, New Hampshire, where they raised several children.  Isabel died in 1957, and Ray in 1979.

Circa 1905 photograph, possibly a school photograph, of a young woman identified on the reverse as Flossie Eldridge.

Because the photograph was found with a collection of similar photographs from Brockton, Massachusetts, and area towns, Flossie was likely Flossie Ella Eldridge of Brockton.

The photograph itself measures approximately 1-1/4" square; matted, the piece is approximately 3-1/4" by 2-1/4".

As noted above, since the photograph was found with similar photographs from Brockton, Massachusetts, I believe Flossie was Flossie Ella Eldridge, born June 9, 1891 at Brockton, the daughter of George W. Eldridge and Addie J. (Spencer) Eldridge, both originally from Maine.

On June 9, 1911 at Brockton, Massachusetts, Flossie married Arthur Elwin Skinner, son of George Washington Skinner and Carrie Eliza (Dickinson) Skinner of Vermont.  Flossie and Arthur lived at Brockton, Massachusetts, and had, I believe, three children.

Flossie died in 1953 and Arthur in 1963.  They're buried in the Melrose Cemetery at Brockton, Massachusetts.

The photograph, which measures about 1-1/4" by 1", without its mat, was taken by the Dexter Novelty Photo Company of Dexter, Maine, which may have taken the photograph at the studio or at a branch office or at schools in area towns.

Harry Alfred Skillin, Skillingwas born June 5, 1889 at Kenduskeag, Maine, son of John W. Skillin and Sophronia Jane (Brown) Skillin, "Jennie".

Another post features a photograph of an older man identified as John Skillin with mention of Bangor, Maine; he was presumably John W. Skillin.

One of Harry's siblings was Susan Rachel (Skillin) Kendall Knapp, fourth wife of Ora Crosby Knapp and stepmother of Ora's daughter Leda Burrill Knapp.

On October 20, 1915 at Bangor, Maine, Harry married Annie Graham, daughter of John and Harriet (Oliver) Graham.  Harry and Annie lived at Bangor, Maine, where they raised a daughter, born in 1916, and a son born in 1920.

Harry died in 1962 and Annie, I think, in 1970, assuming she is the Annie Skillin buried with Harry and his parents at Mount Hope Cemetery at Bangor, Maine.

Circa 1900 photograph of Ulysses G. French of Garland, Maine.  The photograph was taken by the Dexter Novelty Company of Dexter, Maine.

I'd like to call him Ulysses Grant French but haven't yet seen a record that spells that out, though the timing of his birth, not long after the end of the Civil War, makes the name seem especially plausible.

The photograph is a small one; the entire matted piece measures approximately 2-1/4" by almost 2".  The photograph itself is about 1-1/4" by 1".

Ulysses G. French was born at Sangerville, Maine in November, 1869, son of Frank H. French and Jennie M. (Mason) French, who were born at Sangerville, Maine, and Garland, Maine respectively.  On April 6, 1893 at Garland, Maine, Ulysses married schoolteacher Sarah E. Packard, "Sadie", daughter of Daniel C. Packard and Lydia (Trafton) Packard of Garland, Maine.

Ulysses and Sadie farmed at Garland, Maine.  They had at least one child, a daughter Marion G. French, born at Garland on August 23, 1899.  Ulysses died in 1952 and Sadie in 1958; they're buried in the Evergreen Cemetery at Garland, Maine.

The photograph, which measures approximately 2-1/2" by 2", was found with a collection of photographs of youngsters and young adults from Brockton, Massachusetts, and nearby towns, such as Randolph and Braintree.

Lillian Auburn Gay was born January 28, 1891 at Brockton, Massachusetts, the daughter of David Francis Gay and Sarah Clark (Wetherell) Gay.  On October 7, 1911 at Brockton, Massachusetts, Lillian married Archibald Frederick Smith, who was born at Easthampton, Massachusetts, the son of John Smith and Sophia (Freitag ?) Smith.

Lillian and Archibald lived at Quincy, Massachusetts, where Archibald worked as a musician.  The couple had, I believe, four children.  Archibald died in 1966; I don't have a death date for Lillian.

1906 photograph, presumably a school photograph, of a girl identified on the reverse as Ruby Lays of Brockton, Massachusetts. She was Ruby Agnes Lays, who would marry Rev. Norman William Lindsay.

The photograph, which measures approximately 3-1/4" by 2-1/4", was found with a collection of similar sized photographs of youngsters and young adults from Brockton and area towns, such as Randolph and Braintree.

Ruby Agnes Lays was born at Brockton, Massachusetts, on June 21, 1893, the daughter of William Wharton Lays and Susan Snow (Clark) Lays, who were born in Nova Scotia and Massachusetts, respectively.

Judging from the 1920 Census taken in January, 1920, where Ruby indicated she was single and her passport application dated May 7, 1920, where she gave her name as Ruby A. Lindsay, it appears that Ruby Agnes Lay married Rev. Norman William Lindsay in the Spring of 1920.  He was born at Dundee, Scotland, on October 27, 1888.  At the time he completed his draft registration card in 1917, he was a Methodist Episcopal minister at Cape Porpoise at Kennebunkport, Maine.  By 1920, he was back in Brockton and was a divinity student.

Interestingly, I found a notice in the Christian Advocate, Volume 95, July 8, 1920, where Rev. Lindsay and Miss Ruby Lays were candidates for a mission to Mexico.  They were married by this date, I believe, but were apparently single at the time the information was sent to the publisher.  They did serve a mission to Algiers, according to their granddaughter's comment, below.

Ruby and her husband, who had at least two children, both sons, lived at Brockton and eventually moved to Middleborough, Massachusetts. According to Norman William Lindsay's Massachusetts Mason Membership card, he was a clerk and a school teacher.  Ruby died in 1977; her husband had predeceased her in 1965.
