Cabinet Photograph of Fred Teague; by Sturtevant studio of Skowhegan, Maine

Cabinet photograph of a young man identified on the reverse as Fred Teague; the photograph was taken by the Sturtevant studio of 20 Madison Street, Skowhegan, Maine.

From online research, hopefully correct, and hopefully with information pertaining to the fellow in the photograph: [corrections welcome]

Frederick N. Teague was born about 1863 at Canaan, Maine (according to his marriage record),  the son of Benjamin Sherman Teague and Lavina Sarah (Lambert) Teague, who were born in Skowhegan, Maine, and Smithfield, Maine, respectively.

His paternal grandparents were, I think, Francis and Hannah (Crowell) Teague.  His maternal grandparents may have been Amos and Martha (Kimball) Lambert, but I'd like confirmation of that.

On 2 October 1882 at Lynn, Massachusetts, Fred married Mrs. Sadie A. Scribner.  Sadie was born at Fairfield, Maine about 1860.  At some point Fred and Sadie divorced.

Fred later married widow Eva (Lindsey) Haines, on 28 January 1907 at Boston, Massachusetts.  Eva was the daughter of William and Lottie (Hicks) Lindsey.  She was born at Newport, Maine about 1878.

By the time of the 1920 Census, Fred and Eva were living at Derry, New Hampshire.

If you have corrections and/or clarifications to the information above, or if you feel that the Fred Teague in the photograph is a different person altogether, please leave a comment or contact me directly.

  2. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to revisit Fred Teague and to update some of the information. I found his mother's name on his marriage record, and I hope that she was his birth mother, as sometimes people wrote their current mother. As for his mother's parents, I don't have an actual record to support the fact that they were Amos and Martha (Kimball) Lambert. I tried to researching Lavina's siblings (if those were siblings on the 1850 Census of Smithfield) and could not find the parents' names that way either. I did find Amos Lambert's and Martha Kimball's marriage record in the History of Durham [Maine], where Amos' family was from. It mentioned that Amos was living at Parkman, Maine, and they married on 20 February 1827. I think this is the Amos who owned land at Guilford, Maine, in the 1820s, and who left Guilford after losing his cattle to disease. If you have further information, please add an additional comment. Thanks!
