The album was complicated to research, and I've probably misstated a few dates and relationships. Hopefully, readers will weigh in so I can correct any errors.

Lorena A. Smith was the daughter of Hiram V. Smith and Love P. (Cook) Smith, who inscribed facing pages in the album.

In 1906, Lorena married Eben Hunewill [see below] or Hunewell, whose first wife, Irene B. (Rowe) had died in 1903. Eben, whose surname is also seen as Hunnewell, inscribed the last page in the album on on March 1, 1910, where he noted that he was born on March 2, 1825 in a log house in Moscow, Maine.

1878+ Autograph Album of Sea Capt. Frederick S. Hayden of South Thomaston, Maine & Marcia Smith (Wakefield) Hayden of Garland, Maine; many Oak Grove Seminary Inscriptions

This autograph album appears to have been filled with inscriptions from before and/or, at the prospect of, the marriage of Sea Captain Frederick S. Hayden (1843-1896), "Fred", of South Thomaston, Maine, and Marcia Smith Wakefield (1859-unk) of Garland, Maine.

They, or at least one of them, may have been students at Oak Grove Seminary at Vassalboro, Maine, where many of the pages were inscribed.  Perhaps Oak Grove is what brought them together, either as students or relatives of students.

Other inscriptions were penned by their family members from the South Thomaston and Garland areas.

Fred inscribed the first page of handwriting in the album.

Marcia inscribed a page in the middle of the album.

Julia Crane of Garland, Maine, penned a sentiment mentioning Marcia "on the sea", perhaps meaning that Marcia would be joining her husband on his voyages, or perhaps just a coincidence.

Frederick S. Hayden was the son of William L. Hayden and Abigail (Coombs) Dow Hayden. Fred had at least nine siblings, several of whom died young.  He himself died before his time, in an 1895 carriage accident, after having left the rigors and dangers of the master mariner trade and opening a tourist resort, Sunnyside Cottage, at Owls Head, Maine.

Fred's mother Abigail inscribed a page in the album, as did other members of the Hayden family.

Marcia Smith Wakefield was the daughter of William H. Wakefield and Eunice D. Hinckley) Wakefield. They inscribed a page in 1879, along with Marcia's sister Julia C. Wakefield and brother Willie H. Wakefield.  It appears that Fred and Marcia had made a visit to Garland in 1879, when many of the Garland inscriptions were made.

After Fred's death in 1895, Marcia returned to Penobscot County, Maine, and, in  1906 or 1907 [I found records for each date, on January 2], married Luther Martin Rideout (1839-1910)She may have married again after Luther's death, to Howard Clark (1860-1938), but I haven't found a record of the marriage, nor a death record for Marcia.  She may be buried with Fred in South Thomaston, Maine, or in Garland, Maine.

1850s autograph album that belonged to Mary E. Furbish of Wells, Maine.

The album, which measures approximately 8" by 6-1/2", contains the sentiments of nearly 70 of Mary's relatives and friends from Wells, Maine, and beyond, and from her fellow students and teachers at Lewiston Falls Academy in Auburn, Maine.

An alphabetical list of the inscribers appears at the end of this post.

Among the clues pointing toward the album owner's identity was this Acrostic, inscribed by Seth Getchell.

George Woods, an instructor at Lewiston Falls Academy, penned a particularly meaningful two-page inscription for his student Mary.

Mary E. Furbish was born about 1840, the daughter of Manassah Furbish and Elizabeth (Cole) Furbish. Mary had at least two siblings, brothers James C. Furbish and Joshua J. Furbish.

Joshua, his wife Ruth, daughter Lucy A. and son Arthur J. E. inscribed pages in the album.  On the page inscribed by Joshua, Mary added a note upon the occasion of his death in 1883.

Lucy also inscribed a page shared with her cousin Flora J. Furbish, who was the daughter of James C. Furbish.

Before 1870, Mary became the second wife of George N. Dockam, whose first wife,  Frances Julia Littlefield, had died in 1868.  Mary and George had a son Leonard Manassah Dockam, born in 1874.

Mary's step-daughter Julia Dockam inscribed the last page in the album.

Mary died of Bright's Disease in 1910.

1851 Letter from George Dickey at Bangor, Maine, to Thomas Holbrook in Brooks, Maine, or Knox, Maine

June 16, 1851 letter sent by George Dickey in Bangor, Maine, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Holbrook at Brooks Mills in Brooks, Maine, or Knox, Maine.

Dickey is asking that the Holbrooks visit him in Bangor, Maine, for the purpose of having a "degariotipe" taken, before it's too late.  He also mentions other mutual friends.

Daguerrotypes were in wide use from the 1840s to the late 1850s. It would be interesting to know the name of the Bangor, Maine, photographer that Dickey had in mind.
Transcription - I've left the spelling as is, as it doesn't detract from the message. But if I've misconstrued something that affects the meaning, please leave a comment.

Lines Written By Judge Horace Strickland of Bradford, Vermont, upon the Death of his Wife Susan H. (Baldwin) Strickland in 1874

Paper, about 8" b y 5", found unaccompanied by other items, which contains lines written by Judge Horace Strickland (1801-1884) upon the death of his wife Susan H. (Baldwin) Strickland (1802-1874).

The Stricklands lived in Bradford, Vermont.

The paper is more yellow than it appears above, as it was scanned while contained within an archival sleeve.

Transcription:

The following lines were found among the papers of the late Judge H Stricland of Bradford Vt and were evidently written after the death of his wife

'Fairwell', since nevermore for thee
The sun comes up o'er eastern skies
Less bright henceforth shall sunshine be
To some fond hearts and saddened eyes.

There are who for thy last long sleep
Shall sleep as sweetly nevermore.
Shall weep because thou canst not weep
And grieve that all they griefs are o'er.

Sad thrift of love: the loving breast
On which the aching heart was thrown
Gave up the weary head to rest
But kept the aching for its own."

Horace Bradford was a foundry owner, a Town Clerk, a State Representative and Side Judge of Orange County, Vermont. He and Susan had two daughters
  1. Charlotte taught at Abbott Academy in Andover, Massachusetts
  2. Lucy Ann married Charles B. Botsford, a Boston merchant

Invitation to the 1948 wedding of Margaret Elizabeth Connelly (1923-2018), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Connelly, and Henry Edward Haman (1921-2007) on 6 November in Bangor, Maine.

1912 Wedding Announcement of Bruce Alvor Higgins & Marietta Jessie Megquier at Bangor, Maine

Announcement of the Marriage of Bruce Alvor Higgins (1877-1962) and Marietta Jessie Megquier (1875-1951) at Bangor, Maine, on 15 August 1912.

According to Dr. Higgins' obituary, he was a native of Ohio, who had moved with his family to Exeter, Maine, when young. After graduating from the Maine Medical School at Bowdoin College in the Class of 1901, he practiced in Corinth, Maine, for a time, before moving with his wife to Iola, Kansas.

Dr. Higgins' father, Ebenezer A. Higgins, was the son of Ebenezer and Ruth (Smith) Higgins, natives of Bucksport, Maine, who moved to Exeter, Maine, and developed an extensive farm.

Marietta Jessie Megquier was the daughter of Charles F. Megquier and Marietta E. (Clark) Megquier of Corinth, Maine. It's possible that Dr. Higgins met Marietta while he was practicing medicine in Corinth, although they may have known each other before that, as Corinth and Exeter abut.
