1877-1880 Autograph Album of Sarah Haynes (1855-1886) of Newbury, New Hampshire


1877-1880 autograph album of Sarah Haynes  (1855-1877) of Newbury, New Hampshire; she would marry John Franklin Nason (1858-1929) in April of 1880.

Sarah wrote her name and home town on one of the front end papers.


The album measures approximately 7-1/2" by 4-3/4" and contains the sentiments of over eighty of Sarah's relatives, in-laws, friends and classmates.  An alphabetical list of the inscribers, together with any personal information they offered, appears at the end of this post.

From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions requested:

Sarah Haynes was born in 1855 to Joshua C. Haynes (1829-1879) and 
Polly F. (Emery) Haynes (1827-1906), who, together, inscribed the first page of inscriptions.


Many of Sarah's other relatives inscribed pages in the album.  There were probably more, but the ones below expressed a relationship.
  • Addie M. (Haynes) Clement (1846-1911), Sarah's cousin. Her husband Chauncey Waters Clement inscribed the left facing page.
  • Abbie A. (Nason) Dennis (1848-1912), Sarah's sister-in-law, a sister to Sarah's future husband John Franklin Nason. Abbie's husband, Delbert W. Dennis (1847-1903), who inscribed the facing page
