From online research, hopefully correct:
I found a Lewis L. Dorr born 7 July 1853, born in Frankfort or Winterport, Maine, the son of, I believe, Thomas and Clarissa or Clara (Colson) Dorr. As best I can determine, from conflicting references, Lewis' paternal grandparents wereWilliam and Sarah (Barton) Dorr, and his maternal grandparents were Edward and Eleanor (Littlefield) Colson.
In 1878, Lewis L. Dorr married Nellie M, who was born in October of 1859, according to the 1900 Census, which date could be a year off in either direction, and in Northeast Harbor, Maine, according to the marriage record of her daughter Edith. That marriage record gives her maiden name as Dorr; it seems as though Edith would have known her mother's maiden name, but I suppose it could be in error.
I wasn't able to track down a Nellie Dorr in the 1860 Census of Mount Desert, Maine, though I did find a possibility in a Nellie Dorr in the 1870 Census of Orland, Maine; that Nellie was the daughter of George and Susan.
Lewis and Nellie Dorr were living in Winterport, Maine at the time of the 1880 Census, but at some point moved to Mount Desert Island, where they are enumerated in the 1900 Census, with daughter Edith. I found on Edith's son Willard's WWII record that she was born in Mount Desert, so the family must have moved to the Island at least by 1890, the year of her birth.
I also found an online tree referencing two more children for Lewis and Nellie, one, Florence, born a couple years before the date (which could be wrong) they gave as their marriage year on the 1900 Census, and another, Jesse born in 1880. Neither of these children, if correctly their children, was living with them by the time of the 1900 Census.
Daughter Edith C. Dorr married Charles Reed Carlton in Bangor, Maine, in 1908. Charles, whose previous wife, Carrie Emma Crockett, died in 1907, was a minister, and apparently soon got a position with a church in Corinna, Maine, as he and Edith are enumerated in the 1910 Census there.
Their presence in Corinna probably explains why her father Lewis L. Dorr died there, on 22 February 1911, according to his death record. He was apparently widowed by then, so perhaps an online reference to Nellie's death in the year 1900 is correct. I wasn't able to find a death record for her, possibly because the record is indexed by a name other than Nellie.
Charles and Edith Carlton and son Willard, born about 1911, moved to Presque Isle, Maine, where they can be found in the 1920 Census. Sadly, I found a death record for Charles Reed Carlton at Mars Hill in 1922 indicating that he had taken his life. Whether Edith was still with him at that point, I don't know. I found an Edith Carlton who married a George W. Scott of South Portland, Maine, in 1925, but I don't know if that were she.
