1886-1891 Autograph Album of Edward Willard Griggs of Glens Falls, New York; student at Elmwood Seminary and Elmwood Business College

1886-1891 autograph album of Edward Willard Griggs, "Eddie", of Glens Falls, New York, a student at Elmwood Seminary in 1886 and Elmwood Business College in 1887.  Many of Eddie's schoolmates inscribed pages.

I'm guessing that Elmwood Seminary offered business classes to post graduates, under the name of Elmwood College or Elmwood Business College.

The album was given to Eddie by his father, George Willard Griggs, at Christmas in 1887.

The album measures approximately  7-3.4" by 5" and contains the sentiments of 30 of Eddie's relatives, friends and schoolmates, some of whom made wonderful sketches.  An alphabetical list of the inscribers, together with any personal information they offered, appears at the end of this post.

From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions requested:

Edward Willard Griggs was born about 1872 at South Glens Falls, New York, the son of George Willard Griggs and Susannah M. V. (Durand) Griggs.  Both parents inscribed pages in the album.

George W. Griggs; inscribed on May 24, 1891 at Glens Falls, New York

Susannah M. V. Griggs; inscribed on March 22, 1886 at Glens Falls, New York.  She was Susannah M. V. (Durand) Griggs, daughter of Thomas B. V. Durand.

Some of the inscribers used wonderful calligraphy.  My favorite, E. M. Cook, possibly Edward M. Cook, included a very fine drawing.
