1886-1887 Autograph Album of George M. Bovie of Hoosick, New York; while Student at Coleman National Business College at Newark, New Jersey

Autograph album with inscriptions acquired in 1886 and 1887 at Coleman National Business College, founded by Henry Coleman at Newark, New Jersey.  Students came from all over the United States and from Canada, Colombia and Cuba.

I believe the owner, G. M. Bovie, was George M. Bovie of Hoosick, New York.  George's name appears on three pages.

The first autograph in the album is that of H. Coleman, who was presumably Henry Coleman, founder of Coleman National Business College.

The album measures approximately 6-3/4" by 4-1/2" and contains the sentiments of 48 of George's fellow students and faculty at Coleman National Business College.  An alphabetical list of the inscribers, together with any personal information they offered, appears at the end of this post.

From brief online research, hopefully correct - corrections and additions requested:

Assuming I have the correct G. M. Bovie, George M. Bovie was born December 17, 1864 at Hoosick, New York, the son of Isaac Warren Bovie and Sarah M. (Jones) Bovie.  I'm not sure if George ever married.  He died in 1938 and is buried with family members in the Hoosick Cemetery at Hoosick, New York.

If you have corrections and/or additions to the information above, an alternate identity of G. M. Bovie, or information on any of the inscribers listed below, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
