Memorial Card: Lydia Park, 66, Died in March 1902; Possibly Lydia (Lamunyon) Park, Buried in Owosso, Michigan

Memorial Card printed upon the death of Lydia Park, age 66, in March of 1902.  The card was printed by the Ideal Memorial Card Company of Bluffton, Ohio.

The card was found in an album of cabinet photographs, Cartes de Visite, tintypes and memorial cards, which I thought were from the same family.  But when taking out the individual items for scanning, I noticed that some of them had antique mall markings.  Some of the items in the album have an obvious relationship, but others may have been randomly inserted to fill the spaces.  Irritating for those of us who like to tie up loose ends.

Lydia may have been Lydia (Lamunyon) Park, daughter of Abel Lamunyon and Nancy (Walker) Lamunyon.  This Lydia, born in Michigan in 1836, married John Handy Park about 1852.  She died at Owosso, Michigan and is buried there, according to her death certificate, in the Dewey Cemetery, also known as Oak Grove Cemetery.

If you have corrections and/or additions to the information above, or if you feel that Lydia was a different person, please leave a comment or contact me directly.

  1. I believe you have the parents correct. Were there any photos of Lydia's family, Abel or Nancy in the cabinet?

    2. Sorry, no other photographs or mementos accompanied the card. I believe I found it in an antique shop in Maine or New Hampshire, but more likely Maine. Not that there is necessarily any other relationship to Maine -lots of people retire to Maine from other places and sell their things at the antique malls. It's also possible I purchased it on eBay a decade ago. Tim, glad you happened upon this post!
