1885-1892 Autograph Album of Alta Minnette Clarke of Scott, New York

1885-1892 autograph album that belonged to Alta Minnette Clark of Scott, New York.  It's possible that Minnette wrote her name on the inside front cover, but, sadly, the covers are missing.

However, the first signed page in the album was inscribed by Minnette's mother, Emily Philena (Barber) Clarke.

The album measures approximately 5-1/4" x 3" and contains the sentiments of 31 of Minnette's relatives and friends.  Many of the signers were inter-related, with surnames such as Barber, Burdick, Clarke, Coon and Potter, among others.  Please refer to the list at the end of this post.

From online research, hopefully correct:  [corrections and additions welcome!]

Alta Minnette Clarke, "Minnie", was born May 31, 1873 at Scott, New York, the daughter of Charles Eugene Clarke [or Eugene Charles Clarke] and Emily Philena (Barber) Clarke.  Three of Minnie's sibilings inscribed pages in her album.

Sister Myra Josephine Clarke of Scott, New York, signed a page on March 10, 1887.

Brother George Saunders Clarke of Scott, New York signed a page in November 1887.

Brother Roscoe Andrew Clarke of Scott, New York, signed a page on November 22, 1889.

About 1893, Alta Minnette Clarke married Irwin Hanks Babcock, son of Jonathan Hanks Babcock and Amy Elizabeth (Burdick) Babcock.  I believe they would have nine children.  Irwin died in 1928, and Minnie in 1933.

If you have corrections and/or additions to the information above, or information on any of the signers listed below, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
