1880s/1890s Autograph Album of Maud Seaborn of New Salem, Illinois

Note of April 3, 2016:  Be sure to read the comments section for more information on Maud (Seaborn) Brierton, up to 1940.  This same reader notes that there were two towns called New Salem during this time frame; the map at bottom is the current New Salem but may not be where Maud lived.

1880s/1890s autograph album that belonged to Maud Seaborn of New Salem, Illinois.  The album was a Christmas gift from Maud's mother, who was Mary Elizabeth (Razey) Seaborn.

The album is approximately 6+" x 4" and contains 56 pages signed by Maud's relatives and friends.  The front cover has detached.

From online research, hopefully correct: [corrections welcome!]

Margaret Maud Seaborn was born about 1877 in Illinois, the daughter of William Albert Seaborn and Mary Elizabeth (Razey) Seaborn of Illinois.

Maud's paternal grandparents were Robert T. Seaborn III and Nancy (Duff) Seaborn.  Her maternal grandparents were Richard F. and Harriet Ann (Mason) Razey.

Along with several other people named Razey, Maud's maternal grandmother Harriet Ann (Mason) Razey signed a page in Maud's album.  Harriet signed her page at New Salem, Illinois, on 16 March 1890.

Maud's sister Daisy signed a page at New Salem, Illinois, on 25 December 1889 and again on 25 January 1890.

About 1898 Maud's parents moved to Arkansas. I'm not sure if Maud followed them or not.  After her mother died, her father married Martha Creola Norton.

The Find-a-Grave listing for Maud's father indicated that Maud had married a Mr. Brierton, and a reader has confirmed that Maud married Carl Brierton.  They lived at Webb City, Missouri, and had two children.

If you have corrections to the information above, or if you can shed light on Maud's life after 1880, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
