2 Photographs of Lewis E. Clewley, by Bangor, Maine studios

Identification information on the reverse of this photograph by the Heath studio of Bangor, Maine, indicates that this is a photograph of Lewis E. Clewley, taken about 1890.

The photograph was found with a photograph of a Lewis, presumably the same person at a younger age.

From online research, hopefully correct: [corrections welcome!]

Lewis Emery Clewley was born 4 December 1870 at Holden, Maine, the son of George Emery Clewley and Louisa H. (Ring) Clewley, who were born at Holden, Maine, and Skowhegan, Maine, respectively.   I believe Louisa was previously married to a Mr. Hunt.

Lewis' paternal grandparents were Isaac and Susannah S. (Kenney) Clewley.  His maternal grandparents were Rufus and, I think, Hannah Ring.

On 25 November 1897 at Brewer, Maine, Lewis Emery Clewley married Alice E. Day, daughter of Russell R. and Eleanor A. (Clewley) Day.  Alice was born 26 July 1874 at Holden, Maine.

The couple settled at Brewer, Maine, where they raised at least two children, daughters Eleanor and Pauline.  Lewis was a contractor.  I believe he died in 1950.

If you have corrections to the information above, or additions to it, please leave a comment or contact me directly.  Thanks!
