Cabinet Photo of Alice W. Hall, who married Charles O. Grant, Rockland, Maine

Cabinet photo of a woman identified on reverse as Alice Grant, wife of Charles Grant, Rockland.  The photograph was made by C. A. Smith Photo Company, Waterville, Maine.

From what I could gather online, the woman pictured is likely Alice W. Hall, born in June of 1860 in Maine, the daughter of Silas C. and  Nancy P. (Putnam) Hall.  Her grandparents were Ambrose Hall and wife Caroline (possibly Clark) Hall and Daniel Putnam and wife Eliza (Mitchell) Putnam.  These people lived in the Knox and Waldo counties area of Maine.

Alice W. Hall married Charles O. Grant in 1881.  I've had no luck in discovering his parents as there are several possibilities.  Plus, he seems to have varying birth dates - perhaps people online have merged information for two or more different Charles Grants.

Alice and Charles had four children, but an online source mentions that three of them died young.  I hope that's not the case.  Daughter Winifred Grant married Harrison Ulmer Cowing in 1911, according to the Maine Marriages online database.  She may have died within a couple years because I saw a reference where Harrison Ulmer Cowing married someone else in 1913.
